A whole ton of people have been sharing this video and discussing the book, so I am just reposting it here for completeness. Clay Shirky is author of Here Comes Everybody: The Power of Organizing Without Organizations. He's intensely well-spoken, and this video is one of the few of all the stuff I come across that held my attention all the way through. I just finished the book. I think it's more useful as an analysis of the global impact of new media - like a good sociological resource for how various social media "markers" like Wikipedia, Flickr, Facebook came about and what it all means - than as a tool for how we can start pushing associations into the social media space, which is what we really need now, but it's certainly one everyone should have on their shelf.
