Maddie's Musings - Tip #4 - Set Up a Blog as Your Association's Newsroom

Blog websites:

Blogger (my favorite!)
Wordpress
Typepad

Social Media Today - front page
Link to original blog post on "blog as newsroom" which caught my eye
My blog post about it

Here's my association's super simple blog as newsroom example.

Here it is linked via an RSS-ready "headline animator" from my homepage. (A headline animator is a "customized and animated banner that cycles through your feed's five most recent items. It's an easy way to promote your content anywhere you can place a snippet of HTML".) Here's where you can set up the "headline animator" on Feedburner after signing up your new newsroom blog.

Here's an example of a much more advanced version of the blog as newsroom, embedded in a company's website. Sweet, right?

And here is just one post by Lindy Dreyer describing what a Social Media Press release is all about, once you're ready for that step.

This is a great idea. To take it a step further, check out this site.

The SMR calls for Portable Release XML format to standardize basic press release elements so that they're easy to pick up. The URL above makes adding the PRXML tags easy.
